![]() ![]() Kids train with NDI, Third Street Music School, Chess kids, YPC, and Rosie's Theatre Kids. The school also has a gold standard Arts program. The school uses EPIC, Iexcel, and Iready to supplement what they are doing in class. The teachers work hard to ensure that the students learn proper writing techniques and are given extra assistance when they are struggling with a subject. We are a mixed-race family (Black, White, Indigenous, & Asian) and have been wholly welcomed, supported, and given every opportunity to excel. The school has far exceeded my family's expectations! Both of my sons have received and is still receiving an exceptional education. Parent: I have a 3rd-grade student currently at PS 130 and a 6th-grade student who graduated from PS 130. I have to have my son watch the videos peice by peice to make sure he understood what was being taught. But for those coming in at a later grade its definitely a challenge. ![]() The lessons year after year connect-builds on skill. The Reading and writing program is great for children entering in Kindergarten because they will grow into the curriculum. You have to see the videos to better understand what I am trying to describe here. It's definitely a higher level of thinking which is fine but its unnecessarily wordy and the strategies can be more simplified without sacrificing rigor. Parent: Remote learning is very well organized, the school is able to build a strong school Community remotely, Caring-dedicated teachers and staff! My only negative is the Columbia University's reading and writing program (Lucy Calkins & TCRWP Colleages Units of Study Reading, Writing Phonics) The content in the videos are a bit tough for elementary level students to fully grasp. ![]()
